Product Data Management

Product Data Management (PDM) systems are typically focused on engineering and manufacturing from the perspective of the detailed Bills of Material, also known as BoMs. These are lists of items which are combined in sub-assemblies and ultimately into a full assembly. The BoMs can contain information relating to CAD models or drawings, other document types as well as specific data values. PDM systems can also include visualisation and graphical applications.

There is not a single PDM solution that Metabula provides but a variety of capabilities in the PDM arena from electronic document management, to engineering change management, to CAD and drawing file management. However the priority is mainly in the area of comprehensive part and item management including the ability to allow parts to be dynamic re-classified, to belong to multiple hierarchies (also known as multiple inheritance), and to be managed and controlled according to flexible workflow structures.
